Been a little busy. Been more than busy. Valentino has been fine, a little depressed, but fine. Lucy went for grooming today and they were able to give her the works without her hind legs buckling under. She has been sleeping most of the day. Grooming is stressful and tiring. I myself haven’t slept in so long, I hardly know where I am.
But at least we didn’t get the snowstorm that was forecast. The weather is still being treated like a military secret: “Tell them anything, but don’t tell them the truth.” The forecasts are wrong so often, it’s laughable. But then, there are so many variables involved: wind streams, sunspots, who knows what else… Fortunately, the dogs can go out. Fortunately, Rob didn’t have to break out the snowblower and shovels spend another 8 hours digging us out. The only remaining problem is the cold, frigid temps. And I still have to let the pups out for their nighttime potty.
Mom is sleeping now, but she had a minor fall. Then again, is any fall at her age minor? She called me for a bathroom break. Then, not a minute later, she called again. When she called the third time, I didn’t respond. I was too busy scanning business cards into my new scanner. (Apparently, parts of the manual were superseded since they developed the model I bought!)
I first heard the thunk, then her cry. Mom wasn’t badly hurt, just a bump on her head. She decided to close the shutters herself and walked without her cane. Second fall in that corner. Second fall without her cane. Of course, I feel guilty, but there is so little I can do, except answer her every call.
And here’s Valentino now, seeking my attention for a potty break. (Be right back.)
I drape my parka on the back of my chair these days. Saves time. I am in and out so frequently, and the porch is so frigid, I need to be ready to go quickly and do so somewhat comfortably. Still, my left foot is sore, and walking on the cold tile with socks, however warm, hardly does the job. My podiatrist would not be happy.
Reiki. I need Reiki, cold water, and a moment to breathe. Catch you later!
